Wildwood Announces Overnight Lane Closures on Signature Drive Starting October 12 |
Construction Aims to Enhance Traffic Flow and Safety at Key Intersection |
Beginning Sunday, October 12, the City of Wildwood will implement overnight lane closures and detours on Signature Drive to facilitate significant roadway improvements.
These temporary changes will occur between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., affecting the southbound right-turn lane onto State Road 44, the northbound left-turn lane onto SR 44, and the through lane on Powell Road.
The closures are necessary to add new northbound and southbound lanes, as well as turn lanes in both directions heading northbound on Signature Drive at the intersection.
Access to local businesses along the construction zone will be maintained throughout the project.
Advance warning signs are already in place, and a traffic control officer will be on-site during the closures, which are expected to last until early 2026.
Public Works Director Jeremy Hockenbury emphasized the importance of these improvements, stating, "While Signature Drive is not a residential neighborhood, it supports a heavy and increasing load of commercial traffic, including trucks, equipment, customers, and employees. This work will greatly enhance safety and efficiency in the area. We are eager to bring these improvements to our community."
The city awarded the contract to C.W. Roberts Contracting after a competitive bidding process. Construction is expected to be completed in early 2026 at a cost of approximately $428,500.
Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and to exercise caution when traveling through the affected areas during construction hours.
