South Marion High School Set to Open in August 2026 |
Marion County's First New High School in Over Two Decades |
Marion County is preparing to welcome its first new high school since 2003, as South Marion High School is slated to open its doors in August 2026.
Located near Marion Oaks, the three-story campus will accommodate over 2,000 students, with the potential to expand to 2,711.
The facility will feature 61 classrooms, 20 labs, an 800-seat performing arts auditorium, a 1,332-seat gymnasium, and a 2,000-seat athletic stadium.
The project, estimated at $165 million, is funded through borrowed funds secured by the Marion County School Board and local millage proceeds.
Students will have the opportunity to select the school's colors and mascot, fostering a sense of community and pride.
As the opening date approaches, anticipation builds for the positive impact South Marion High School will have on the local community. |
